I became a caregiver for my husband when he became wheelchair bound and 70% blind. I felt that I could do it all on my own. That was a mistake. I was introduced to Heartland Home Health and it has become a life saver for both of us. I needed to have some time to myself and to be relieved of some of the everyday duties of a caregiver. Just to have a nurse come in once a week and set up the medicines and check on the health of my husband, gave me complete peace of mind. They catch a problem before it becomes an issue. I also have a home health aide come in twice a week to shower my husband and do some light housekeeping gives me time to do a few things on my own, weather it is shopping, running errands, or having coffee with a friend. Then I was offered Respite Care so that I can have a day off to do whatever I wanted with no guilt because he is being so well taken care of. To say my husband loves this, is an understatement. It sounds like all of this is for and nothing for my husband, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He got his wife back. I am no longer stressed and upset all of the time. My husband and I have quality time together again. Of course the most important thing is the dedicated and wonderful people at Heartland Home Health who have made our lives much better. The staff is so trusting and great at recognizing what a patient and family need. They have made our lives so much easier, they are so easy to work with, and I would tell any family member you won’t be disappointed.
